A lot of taxpayers don't know this little tidbit when it comes to loan forgiveness (foreclosures/short sales, etc)...and neither do their real estate agents.

Comment on Site Problem, 3 months lost… Thanks Hostgator by Joyce http://themotaxguy.com/site-problem-months-lost/#comment-2036 Joyce Thu, 15 Mar 2012 12:19:43 +0000 http://themotaxguy.com/?p=4015#comment-2036 wow.. that's all I can say. I know it's not much consolation but I have been using Backup Buddy (by iThemes). I backup my blog & website database daily and the full shabang weekly. It's not a free plugin but it's worth it for the piece of mind and the ease of auto backups and one-click restore.

I need to focus, and I am having trouble with that as it is.... :/ I agree, having lost three months of tweaking and post was about the most horrible internet experience I have had... and it did reduce me to tears, I had worked really hard on stuff from December through January. I somewhat recovered but I won't let them do it again.

What a mess (an like you need any more to do during tax season). We use a local company to host our site - in 9 years we've never had an issue (no matter what crazy thing I've wanted to do) - he's always available. If you'd like I can give you his info.

Comment on Small Business Retirement Benefits Will Face Trouble With New Tax Reform by Steven J Fromm http://themotaxguy.com/small-business-retirement-benefits/#comment-2030 Steven J Fromm Sat, 29 Oct 2011 20:06:42 +0000 http://themotaxguy.com/?p=3980#comment-2030 This is a great overview of the plan options available to small employers. Also, they can do a simple profit sharing plan and if the census date is favorable a defined benefit plan. The latter could generate some very large deductions for an older workforce for a very successful company. In addition, small employers also have some very important worker classification concerns. The IRS has just issued a VCSP program that allows employers to come clean where they have been treating workers as independent contractor when they should be employees. This may be a good way to resolve a pending problem, but it may have other implications where these workers now become eligible for other company benefits.
